For a period of five years, the court investigated complaints from ex-members of the Jehovah’s Witnesses. They testified about how they were rejected by order of the organization and became completely isolated socially.

The Ghent prosecutor’s office already sued the Jehovah’s Witnesses in June, but the case was then postponed. On Tuesday, the case against the Jehovah’s witnesses was reopened. The deadline for conclusion has been set and pleadings will take place on February 16, 2021. A dozen people already presented themselves as disadvantaged parties. According to the defense of the ex-members, this number will only increase.

Four charges have been placed before the non-profit religious organization. First and foremost, inciting discrimination based on religious beliefs against a person and against a group. In addition, inciting hatred or violence towards a person and towards a group.

  1. Yes, this really needs to be looked at. Causing families to cut off their relatives just because these ones might not agree with one point or policy of the religion is atrocious. Thanks Jason.

  2. I have two nieces that were put out of their homes at the ages of 14 and 15 ,Ambers crime was to accept a gift at a Mall around Chrisrmas. The Medford newspaper actually apologized for the story. Leesa was caught smoking cigarettes in the girls bathroom at school and for this she was actually taken up to the front stage at the Kingdom Hall and the congregation members were told to shun her. Another niece was sexually molested by a family member but it was never reported. However it was reported by an outsider and the abuser was convicted.

  3. I was a Jehovah’s Witness for 30 years, working as a full time recruiter for a few years as well. When I found out the errors and cover-ups in the religion, I left. As they practice “shunning” of any member who leaves, I now have 45 members of my JW family who treat me as dead, with “No Contact” from them since 2012. Very cruet religion. It has caused me much distress and emotional hurt as well as physical pain and sickness.

  4. I had a nephew who died from lack of blood transfusion, as Jehovah’s Witnesses do not believe in blood transfusions. I had to travel to another country to have my baby, as we had blood incompatibility and the doctor was going to transfuse the baby when born.

  5. I was raised as a JW, getting baptized in my early teens always having a deep Love for God, though misguided. After having a child at 14, I was then Disfellowshipped as a result, and was shunned by my entire known social structure, and it stood that way till I was Reinstated. My lifestyle at such an early age was much in part due to JW Mother living a double life, cheating on her husband since I was 8yrs of age with man after man, leaving me literally in the streets with a known Gang as she would leave with one of the members to party. This happened over and over and over. After being Disfellowshipped at such an early age, I lived with a “Dead Man Walking” mentality, ultimately living the same way. My prayers would be that I could possibly still be useful to God being broken in spirit, thinking perhaps someone would see how horrible my life was for being Disfellowshipped and that maybe may help someone not to do the same. It was sad. Things were like this till I was Reinstated at 30yrs of age while in Prison. After getting out over a decade later and starting a family, I came to find out the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society was an affiliate of the United Nations for 10 years while LYING to the members. Then I found out about all the Pedophilia, 2 Witness Rule, then finding their Investments in Military, Cigarettes’, Soft Porn, and the list went on… Realizing I was duped, having my world pulled from under my feet, I turned in my letter of Disassociation and AGAIN, was shunned by my entire social structure for doing what was RIGHT. I lost my entire family as they cut off ALL ASSOCIATION as required by that cult. Mom, Sister, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Friends, etc… I now know why the REQUIREMENTS to cutt off all association… So we don’t EXPOSE WHAT WE KNOW. Long story short, I found the REAL JESUS! I am now a Minister. Glory be to God for saving me… how I Love him. I was truly LOST. But now I am FOUND… IN JESUS.
