When one compares Genesis 8:22 in the New World Translations with the same verse in other bibles, one will notice some deceptive additions or distortions. If one reads the verse in the New World Translations from 1961 to 2013, you will find the following:
1961 & 1984 Editions
For all the days the earth continues, seed sowing and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night, will never cease.
2013 Edition
From now on, the earth will never cease to have seed–sowing and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, and day and night.
Notice that in the 1961 and 1984 editions of the New World Translation, the New World Translation Committee have uniquely used the word “continues” and have also inserted a comma after “day and night”. Using the word “continues” and adding a comma after “day and night” leads the reader to believe that the events – days of the earth, seed sowing and harvest, cold and head, summer and earth, day and night – will never cease.
Do other bible translations insert a comma after “day and night” at Genesis 8:22? Some do and others do not.
Bibles without a comma
The following bibles do not have a comma after “day and night” in Genesis 8:22:
While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease. – American Standard Version
While the earth remains, Seedtime and harvest, Cold and heat, Winter and summer, And day and night Shall not cease. – Amplified Bible

While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, and day and night will not cease. – Modern English Bible

Bibles with a comma
The following bibles have a comma after “day and night” in Genesis 8:22:
Henceforth, all the days of the earth, seed [time] and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night, shall not cease. – Darby Translation
All the days of the earth, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, night and day, shall not cease. – Douay Rheims Bible
While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease. – English Standard Version

While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease. – Revised Standard Version
(and so) in all the days of [the] earth, seed and ripe corn, cold and heat, summer and winter, night and day, shall not rest. (and so for all the days that remain for the earth, seed-time and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, night and day, shall never cease. – Wycliffe Bible
during all days of the earth, seed-time and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night, do not cease. – Young’s Literal Translation
Although some translations have a comma after “day and night”, they introduce the earth as being of a finite lifespan when using such terms as “all the days of the earth” or “while the earth remains”. This is in stark contrast with the New World Translation which uses the word “continues” to indicate that the earth has an infinite lifespan.
This deception in text had not been spotted for over fifty years. Why? Because it was only when the 2013 edition of the New World Translation came out that it became apparent the intent that the New World Translation Committee wanted to make in this verse. They blatantly state that the earth will never cease while no other bible on the planet makes this assumption. In fact, some bible translations make it very clear the intent of this verse at Genesis 8:22:
Hereafter seed time and harvest, and cold and heat, and Summer and Winter, and day and night shall not cease, so long as the earth remaineth – 1599 Geneva Bible
As long as the world exists, there will be a time for planting and a time for harvest. There will always be cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night. – Good News Translation
While the earth continues to exist, planting time and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, and day and night will not cease. – New English Translation
As long as the earth lasts, there will always be a time to plant and a time to gather the crops. As long as the earth lasts, there will always be cold and heat. There will always be summer and winter, day and night. – New International Reader’s Version
