Have Jehovah’s Witnesses the True Religion?

Have Jehovah's Witnesses the True Religion

All religions like to think that they have the true religion. This includes Jehovah’s Witnesses. Really, do Jehovah’s Witnesses set themselves apart as better Christians than those of other Christian denominations? Is there a true religion? Or is there more to being a true Christian?

Those who are serious about religion should think that the one they’ve chosen is acceptable to God and Jesus. Otherwise, why would they be involved in it?

Jesus Christ didn’t agree with the view that there are many religions, many roads, all leading to salvation. Rather, he said: “Narrow is the gate and cramped the road leading off into life, and few are the ones finding it.” (Matthew 7:14) Jehovah’s Witnesses believe that they’ve found that road. Otherwise, they’d look for another religion.

…about Jehovah’s Witnesses’ Religion

Jehovah’s Witnesses believe that Jesus’ words in Matthew 7:14 refers to religions. It does not. This chapter of Matthew was part of Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount. He was talking to each person present as individuals.  Indeed, this is evident when one reads Matthew 7:21, where Jesus said: “”Not everyone saying to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the Kingdom of the heavens, but only the one doing the will of my Father who is in the heavens will.”

If Jesus was talking about the true religion, how would the words:  “only the one doing the will of my Father” make sense if Jesus is talking about a religion and not each individual?

Though many religions, including Jehovah’s Witnesses, like to think that Jesus’ words here in Matthew 7 are in reference to a particular religious organization, the truth of the matter is that Jesus was not referring to any one religion; he was referring to each individual person.

Indeed, as the words in Matthew 7:16 says: “By their fruits you will recognize them”. Yes, though there may be good or bad people within every religion professing to be Christian, true Christians – those who “will enter into the Kingdom of the heavens” – will be individuals “doing the will of my Father who is in the heavens”.

Incidentally, in this same chapter, at Matthew 7:15, it states: “Be on the watch for the false prophets who come to you in sheep’s covering, but inside they are ravenous wolves.” Jehovah’s Witnesses was founded by false prophets (See The Gentile Times).

If there were such a thing as a “true religion”, it couldn’t possibly be Jehovah’s Witnesses since such a religion was founded by individuals that Jesus clearly warned against in the same verses that Jehovah’s Witnesses use to prove they are the true religion. How brazenly indiscreet!
